This incredible 19 day tour from Egypt to Jordan showcases the culture and historic sites of these amazing countries, including the Pyramids of Giza and the Dead Sea.

Your 19 day Ancient Lands tour begins in the Egyptian capital of Cairo, before travelling to the city of Alexandria, which was established by Alexander the Great and is situated on the Mediterranean Sea. You will enjoy a tour of the Kom el Shoqafa Catacombs,the largest known Roman burial site in Egypt. From Alexandria you will return to Cairo for two incredible days exploring the Pyramids of Giza, the Solar Boat Museum, home to the 5,000 year old funeral boat of King Khufu, and the famous Sphinx carved from a single limestone block. From Cairo travel to Luxor where you will enjoy morning tea at the Sofitel Old Winter Palace and a visit the Luxor Temple at night.

Your tour continues to the Valley of the Kings and the tomb of Tutankhamen before boarding a luxurious boat, your home for the next four days. This wonderful Nile River cruise will take you from Luxor to Edfu, Aswan, Abu Simbel and back to Cairo. You will explore many of the region’s highlights along the way, including the Temple of Horus at Edfu, a flight to see the temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari at Abu Simbel and in Aswan, the opportunity to take part in a lively Galabeya party in traditional Egyptian dress.

It’s then onto Jordan, where you will spend two nights in its capital, Amman, giving you time to visit the ancient city of Jerash, acknowledged as one of the best-preserved provincial cities of the Roman Empire, home to the Triple Arch Gate, Hippodrome, Colonnaded Street, Temple of Zeus and the Temple of Artemis. From Amman travel through the area known as ‘Bethany Beyond The Jordan’ where Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist and then continue to one of the most revered sites in Jordan, Mount Nebo, to view the memorial to Moses. At Madaba you will witness the famous mosaic map of the Holy Land, comprised of two million pieces of coloured stone, before continuing to the Rose Red City of Petra, where its most famous monument, the Treasury, appears dramatically at the end of the ravine. Finally you will arrive at the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, where you will have the opportunity to float in the waters renowned for their therapeutic benefits.

SCENIC ENRICH Scenic Tours have planned your itinerary at this key highlight, the Pyramids of Giza, to allow plenty of time to explore. Day 3: Cairo - Luxor (FB,HD)
Early morning Included flight to Luxor. SCENIC ENRICH A delightful way to experience the charm of the Sofitel Old Winter Palace is at your private morning tea served in the Royal Bar. The afternoon is at leisure for you to enjoy the facilities of the hotel. Late afternoon your Included tour takes you to visit Luxor temple set in the centre of the city. Upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport you will be met by your Scenic Tours representative who will assist you with clearing customs and immigration then transfer you to your 5 star hotel located close to the tourist district in Amman. Archaeological remains date Amman as far back as 10000 BC. Situated at the crossroads of Asia and Africa, the city has been inhabited by many civilisations including the Persians, the Nabateans and the Romans and was referred to as the Roman city of Philadelphia. Join your Tour Director this afternoon for an Included tour to see the traces of Amman’s many lives, the Citadel overlooking the city, the columns of a Roman temple and the Byzantine church. SCENIC ENRICH enter the Archaeological Museum. Day 11: Amman - Jerash - Amman (FB,L)
This morning travel to the ancient city of Jerash which is acknowledged as one of the best preserved provincial cities of the Roman Empire. Archaeological finds date the history of the city as far back as 3,200 BC. Conquered by the Romans in 63BC Jerash achieved great prosperity under their rule and extended over 800,000 square meters within its walls. Your Included tour will see the Triple Arch Gate, the Colonnaded Street, the Forum, the Temple of Zeus and the paved way leading to the Temple of Artemis. Return to Amman and enjoy the afternoon at leisure.
Day 12: Amman - Petra (FB,L)
Leave Amman this morning and travel to ‘Bethany Beyond The Jordan’ for your Included tour. Amazing archaeological discoveries have identified this as the area where Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist. Continue to one of the most revered sites in Jordan – Mount Nebo. View the memorial to Moses at the presumed site of the prophet’s death and burial place. Enjoy your Included lunch at Madaba then see the famous mosaic map of the Holy Land, comprised of two million pieces of coloured stone, before continuing to the Rose Red City of Petra and your hotel which is located directly across from the entrance to the site.

Day 13: Petra (FB,D)
A highlight of your trip is today’s Included full day walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Petra. This magnificent ancient city, carved into the sandstone mountains, is the legacy of the Nabataeans, an industrious race who settled in south Jordan more than 2,000 years ago. By the 16th century Petra had become completely lost to the West, and remained so until 1812 when the Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt persuaded his guide to take him to the site of the rumoured lost city. The impressive eastern entrance of the city leads down through a brilliantly coloured narrow gorge carved by an ancient waterway. Marvel at Petra’s most famous monument: the Treasury, which appears dramatically at the end of the siq. This towering facade, called Al Khazneh is only the first of Petra’s secrets you will discover today. Tonight enjoy your Included dinner in the Al Saraya Restaurant.
Day 14: Petra - Dead Sea (FB,L)
Today travel in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia as you drive to the Valley of the Moon - Wadi Rum, where the legend of Lawrence was born and the film was shot. Included is your adventure through some of the most dramatic desert landscapes by Jeep, operated by the local Bedouin tribes. Explore Lawrence Road; be awed by the vistas of ancient valleys and towering weathered sandstone mountains rising out of the pink and white sands. Continue north to the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea.
