The 7-day Bay of Islands Explorer starts with a two night stay in the vibrant harbour city of Auckland where you’ll have the choice of an incredible variety of activities including exploring beautiful Waiheke Island, sailing on an America’s Cup yacht or visiting Waitakere Ranges for a walk in the rainforest and along the coast’s black sand beaches. Head north to the beautiful Bay of Islands for an in-depth exploration on your included overnight cruise. Next you visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, where the founding document of New Zealand as a nation was signed in 1840, before travelling to Cape Reinga, the northern most point of New Zealand. Continue to Waipoua Forest and meet your local Maori guide who will entertain you with the stories of the history of the region and discover the mighty Tane Mahuta tree and the fascinating Kauri Museum before returning to Auckland.

Drive north to the Bay of Islands where you board the Ipipiri for your wonderful Included overnight cruise. The Ipipiri, which was the original Maori name for the Bay of Islands, provides you with the comfort for exploring this beautiful area filled with sheltered coves and dozens of islands. Throughout your knowledgeable crew will explain the spectacular sites and history of this unique region. When the Ipipiri anchors at sea, small run-abouts will ferry you to and from nearby sheltered and secluded islands to enjoy Included activities like walking, swimming or kayaking. In the evening take in the magnificent sunset from the deck or your private sea view cabin before enjoying a buffet dinner.

Wander down to the magnificent lighthouse and see where the waters of the Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean meet. Explore this remote and magical place of deep spiritual significance to the Maoris, before continuing to the vast stretch of 90 Mile Beach and the immense sand dunes.
Today is your Included SCENIC FREE CHOICE activity, select from: (1) a lunch cruise around the calm inland waters of the bay; or (2) a tour of quaint and historic Russell and Pompallier; or (3) discover Kerikeri and its history and charm; or (4) cruise to Cape Brett Lighthouse and through the Hole in the Rock (weather permitting). Continue to Omapere set on the shores of Hokianga Harbour, believed to be where Maori voyagers made landfall. Tonight enjoy the spectacular views before dinner with local entertainment.

This morning take a short trip to Waipoua Forest to see the ancient kauri trees. SCENIC ENRICH:
Discover the mighty Tane Mahuta kauri tree, thought to be at least 2,300 years old and listen to your local Maori guide who will entertain you with legends and stories of this region. Drive to Matakohe for your Included tour of the fascinating Kauri Museum. Learn about the history of the early pioneers before driving back to Auckland where your tour concludes.
