Spend 12 days travelling from Bucharest to Budapest, including seven nights on board a Scenic ‘Space-Ship’, visiting Belgrade, Bran Castle and the Iron Gate.

Your Black Sea adventure begins in Bucharest, the capital of Romania where you will witness Ceaucescu’s imposing Palace of Parliament, the largest building in Europe and then journey through the farmland and valleys of the Transylvanian Plateau, passing medieval towns and castles as you venture into the Carpathian Mountains. You will visit Bran Castle, originally a stronghold of the Teutonic Knights and more widely known as the legendary home of Count Dracula.

Next is Cernavoda to board your luxury Scenic ‘Space-Ship’, your home for the next seven nights. You will visit the seaside town of Constanta; the resort town of Mamaia; Russe; the UNESCO World Heritage-listed village of Arbanassi; Veliko Tarnovo, a town with a rich historical past dating back to 3,000 BC; and the former Roman fortress town of Svistov in Bulgaria before re-boarding your ship. Next you will cruise the spectacular Iron Gate, a narrow gorge carved by the Danube between the Carpathian and Balkan Mountains, which forms a natural border between Serbia and Romania.

In Serbia’s capital Belgrade, one of the oldest capital cities in Europe and site of the famous siege in 1456 which ‘decided the fate of Christendom’, you will visit Tito’s memorial, Fortress Kalemegdan and St Sava Church. In Vukovar you will be invited into the home of a local family for a home cooked traditional lunch and an opportunity to learn about everyday life in Croatia, before continuing to Ilok, famous for its old cellars, for a wine and cheese tasting. The Baroque Hungarian provincial town of Kalocsa is renowned for its decorative embroidery and paprika production, and is where you will visit a Hungarian Puszta horse farm.

You will disembark your Scenic ‘Space-Ship’ in Budapest and visit the Communism Heritage and Memorial Park or rejuvenate at the Budapest Thermal Baths and Spa. You will also tour both Buda and Pest, linked by the famous Chain Bridge, the medieval town on Castle Hill and dine on sumptuous Hungarian cuisine.

Day 1: Bucharest
Welcome to Bucharest, Romania’s capital. You will be met at the airport by your Scenic Tours Representative and transferred* to your centrally located hotel.

Day 2: Bucharest (FB)
Journey through the farmland and valleys of The Transylvanian plateau today, passing medieval towns and castles as we venture into the Carpathian Mountains. Choose from the following Included SCENIC FREE CHOICE tours:  (1) We’ll visit Bran Castle, originally a stronghold of the Teutonic Knights and of strategic importance as a barrier to invading Ottoman forces. Of course, it is more widely known as the legendary home of Count Dracula, (2) A visit to Bucharest would not be complete without a day excursion to Snagov Lake. The main attraction here is the Monastery situated on an isolated island in the middle of the lake, only accessible by boat. This is the supposed burial place of the Legendary Dracula, Vlad Tepes.
Day 3: Bucharest - Cernavoda (FB,D)
Today enjoy an Included sightseeing tour of Bucharest. A more modern structure, Ceaucescu’s imposing Palace of Parliament is the largest building in Europe. This afternoon travel to Cernavoda where you will be personally welcomed by your friendly dedicated staff onboard your luxury Scenic ‘Space-Ship’. After unpacking for the start of your 7 night voyage, join your fellow guest for a welcome cocktail in the lounge.

Day 4: Cernavoda - Black Sea (FB,L,D)
Cernavoda in Romania is your ship’s base today for an excursion to the seaside town of Constanta, followed by a visit to the popular resort town of Mamaia. This popular resort town stretches 8 kilometres in length with only a 300 metre sliver of land separating the Black Sea shore from the waters of Lake Siutghiol. 
Day 5: Russe - Arbanassi - Veilko Turnovo - Svistov (FB,L,D)
Arriving in Russe travel to the nearby leafy village of Arbanassi which is included in UNESCO's world heritage list of valuable cultural sites. Venture to Veliko Tarnovo, a town with a rich historical past dating back to 3,000 BC. In the 14th century as the Byzantine Empire weakened the town was the Bulgarian capital and known as the third Rome. Continue to the former Roman fortress town of Svistov in Bulgaria before reboarding your ship.
Day 6: Iron Gate (FB,L,D)
Be sure to have your camera ready as you cruise the spectacular Iron Gate, a narrow gorge carved by the Danube between the Carpathian and Balkan Mountains, which forms a natural border between Serbia and Romania.   
Day 7: Belgrade (FB,L,D)
Today explore Serbia’s capital Belgrade, one of the oldest capital cities in Europe and site of the famous siege in 1456 which ‘decided the fate of Christendom’. Visit Tito’s memorial, Fortress Kalemegdan and St Sava Church on your Included tour.
Day 8: Vukovar - Ilok (FB,HL,D)
Vukovar is situated at the confluence of the Vuka River and the Danube. This morning enjoy an orientation tour of the city. SCENIC ENRICH As a special Scenic guest, you will be invited into the home of a local family for a home cooked traditional lunch and an opportunity to learn about everyday life in Croatia. After lunch visit Ilok famous for its old cellars, for a wine and cheese tasting.
Day 9: Kalocsa (FB,L,D)
The Baroque provincial town of Kalocsa lies at the periphery of the great Hungarian plain and is renowned for its decorative embroidery and paprika production. Today visit a Hungarian Puszta horse farm and enjoy a show before tracing the Turkish origins of paprika. This evening arrive in the Hungarian capital, Budapest.
Day 10: Budapest (FB,D)
After breakfast disembark your Scenic ‘Space-Ship’ and transfer to your centrally located hotel. Enjoy a day at leisure to explore this city on your own. You may choose to visit the Communism Heritage and Memorial Park or rejuvenate at the Budapest Thermal Baths and Spa. Tonight enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Day 11: Budapest (FB,HD)
This mornings Included tour will visit both towns of Buda and Pest, linked by the famous Chain Bridge. Guarded by the two lion statues on both bridgeheads, the suspension bridge offers one of the cities most beautiful views. Enjoy visiting Heroes’ square, Matthias Church, the Fisherman’s Bastion and the medieval town on Castle Hill. This evening enjoy an Included highlight dinner at a Hungarian restaurant.
Day 12: Budapest (FB)
After breakfast, our Scenic Tours Representative will transfer* you to Budapest airport for your onward or homebound flight.
