Observing the convict-built Georgian architecture of Kingston, which has been nominated for World Heritage listing, you will tour the cemetery, historic buildings, convict gaol ruins and the Pier buildings which now house the Legislative Assembly of Norfolk Island’s government, before enjoying a Progressive Dinner across the island with the locals. Next, walk through natural rainforest at Palm Glen meeting exotic local birdlife on the way, followed by breakfast on the beach and a tour of private gardens. You will also experience a lively re-enactment of the history of Norfolk Island, visit the Captain Cook Memorial and the Cottage Pottery and Art Gallery and wander through the Botanic Gardens and visit Cyclorama, a 360 degree showcase of a spectacular panoramic painting depicting the story of the Bounty mutineers.

The earliest settlers were believed to be East Polynesian seafarers who arrived around the 14th or 15th Century, stayed for a few generations and then left. Captain Cook was the first European to encounter Norfolk Island in 1774 and described the Island as ‘Paradise’. This morning your expert local guide will lead you to discover the history and charm of the Island on your Included tour. The local markets are a popular event held every Sunday and you will have the chance to wander through and see the arts, crafts and produce displayed. You may choose to join the Sunday morning service at the historic Chapel of St Barnabas. Afterwards your guide will reveal the key landmarks of Norfolk’s fascinating culture and history on your Included tour. Visit picturesque Emily Bay and take in the fresh sea air and sparkling crystal clear water before returning to the hotel. SCENIC ENRICH Tonight’s event is a highlight where you dine with commandants, clergymen and convicts of the penal era at your private Murder Mystery Dinner. Dress up in period costume and help solve the crime, whilst enjoying a sumptuous meal.
The Island has an intriguing convict history. Governor Arthur Philip first established a prison colony in 1788 which lasted only a couple of years. The island was then abandoned until 1825 when a harsher convict era began, lasting until 1855. Convicts were forced into hard labour building the glorious Georgian architecture, which is now the settlement of Kingston and has been nominated for World Heritage listing. As part of your Included tour, your expert local guide will share the history of the penal settlement; you will visit the cemetery, tour the historic buildings, the convict gaol ruins and the Pier buildings which now house the Legislative Assembly of Norfolk Island’s government. This morning experience the natural rainforest at Palm Glen during an Included leisurely walk with your local guide. Learn about the exotic local fauna and birdlife as you walk beneath a canopy of Norfolk Island palms. SCENIC ENRICH Enjoy breakfast on the beach overlooking the jetty and stop at the local chocolate specialists to see how chocolate is made by hand on the island. This afternoon visit three properties and admire their private gardens including afternoon tea on your Included tour. SCENIC ENRICH Watch ‘The Trial of Fifteen’, a lively re-enactment of the history of Norfolk Island. Following the performance mingle and have a glass of sherry with the colourful cast members. Then enjoy a traditional dinner at No. 9 Quality Row, a restored Georgian building which was a former residence of the military and civil officers during the second penal convict era.
