This incredible adventure takes in all the jewels of the Egypt and Jordan, including the Pyramids, the Nile, the Dead Sea and the World Heritage-listed city of Petra.
This 22 day adventure kicks off in Cairo before travelling to the city of Alexandria established in 331 BC by Alexander the Great. There is plenty to absorb in Alexandria including the colourful local fish markets, Qait Bay Citadel, ancient Roman Theatre, famous Bibliotheca Alexandria and Museum of Antiquities. Next you will visit El Alamein, the site of the Allied Forces victory over Rommel’s troops in 1942, and enter the Commonwealth War Cemetery and the Military Museum. Returning to Cairo for its highlight, the Pyramids of Giza, you will witness the Great Pyramids and their Sounds and Light Show, take in the view from the Panorama, enter the Solar Boat Museum and visit the famous Sphinx.
You will then fly to Abu Simbel and board a luxury cruise boat on Lake Nasser, along the way taking in the temples located between Abu Simbel and Aswan, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Nubian Monuments, including the amazing temples of Ramses ll and his Queen Nefertari. At the Aswan High Dam, you will board your luxurious Nile River cruise boat for a three night cruise taking in Kom Ombo, Edfu and Luxor, where you will enjoy the lively Galabeya party in traditional Egyptian dress. Exploring the West Bank of the Nile, you will see the Colossi of Memnon, the imposing Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the Valley of the Kings and the colourful tomb of Tutankhamen. Next, visit Karnak and Dendara en route to the resort on the Red Sea.
Your tour continues to Jordan, where you will visit its capital Amman, situated at the crossroads of Asia and Africa and witness the Citadel overlooking the city, the columns of a Roman temple and the Byzantine church. Next is the ancient city of Jerash, acknowledged as one of the best-preserved provincial cities of the Roman Empire. You will then travel to ‘Bethany Beyond The Jordan’, observing amazing archaeological discoveries before one of the most revered sites in Jordan, Mount Nebo, home to the memorial to Moses. Continuing onto the Rose Red City of Petra, you will enjoy a walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage site and be in awe of this magnificent ancient city, carved into the sandstone mountains and its incredible hidden secrets. Next, travel to the Valley of the Moon, Wadi Rum, through some of the most dramatic desert landscapes and continue north to your final destination, the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea, where you can relax in its therapeutic waters.

A highlight of your trip is today’s Included full day walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Petra. This magnificent ancient city, carved into the sandstone mountains, is the legacy of the Nabataeans, an industrious race who settled in south Jordan more than 2,000 years ago. By the 16th century Petra had become completely lost to the West, and remained so until 1812 when the Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt persuaded his guide to take him to the site of the rumoured lost city. The impressive eastern entrance of the city leads down through a brilliantly coloured narrow gorge carved by an ancient waterway. Marvel at Petra’s most famous monument: the Treasury, which appears dramatically at the end of the siq. Today travel in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia as you drive to the Valley of the Moon - Wadi Rum, where the legend of Lawrence was born and the film was shot. Explore Lawrence Road; be awed by the vistas of ancient valleys and towering weathered sandstone mountains rising out of the pink and white sands.
