This 18 day tour visits South Africa’s most beautiful garden reserves including Featherbed Nature Reserve as you journey from Cape Town to Johannesburg via Zambia.

Your 18 day tour begins in Cape Town where you will experience an unforgettable cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain for spectacular views. You will also witness the incredible vista of the Cape of Good Hope from the summit of Cape Point. Next, travel to Oudtshoorn, the ‘feather capital of the world’ and home to the famous African ostriches where you will explore the world famous Cango Caves, underground chambers filled with breathtaking limestone formations. Next stop is Knysna, where you will witness the World Heritage-listed Featherbed Nature Reserve, and Storm’s River Mouth in Tsitsikamma National Park.

You will then head to Ghost Mountain for an included cruise on Lake Jozini before continuing onto Tinga Private Game Lodge, a 5,000 hectare private concession within Kruger National Park, which has the highest recorded concentration of leopards in Africa. Next you will fly to Livingstone in Zambia, to tour the Zambian side of one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls. You will also enjoy a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. Finally you will take a day trip to Chobe National Park for a game drive along the Chobe River, before your tour ends in Johannesburg after a visit to Blyde River Canyon, one of Africa’s natural treasures.

Day 1: Cape Town
On arrival you will be met at Cape Town International Airport and transferred* to your hotel, located in the Waterfront area.
Three Night Special Stay: Cape Town
Day 2: Cape Town (B,D)
We begin this morning with an ascent of Table Mountain by rotating cable car for outstanding views of the city and surrounding bay. SCENIC FREE CHOICE (1) a tour of Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned; or (2) a half day tour of the beautiful wineland region outside of Cape Town; or (3) a township tour of Nyanga and Gugulethu; or (4) an afternoon whale watching cruise (seasonal from July to September); or (5) a Harley Davidson ride.
Day 3: Cape Town (B,L)
Today is your tour of the most south-westerly point in Africa, Cape Peninsula. Take in spectacular views of the Cape of Good Hope from the summit of Cape Point, then a lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Boulders Beach, home to the protected land-based colony of African penguins.
Day 4: Cape Town - Oudtshoorn (B,D)
Journey inland along Route 62 via the charming town of Montagu and the ‘Klein Karoo’ to Oudtshoorn, known as the ‘feather capital of the world’ due to its perfect environment for raising ostriches. Visit the breathtaking underground chambers of the Cango Caves before settling into your Dutch style villa and enjoying a dinner with Afrikaans specialties.

Day 5: Oudtshoorn - Knysna (B,D)
Visit an ostrich farm this morning and learn about these unique birds. Then travel over the picturesque Outeniqua Pass to George and the Garden Route. SCENIC FREE CHOICE (1) a guided tour of Monkeyland, the world’s only free-roaming multi-species primate sanctuary; or (2) Birds of Eden sanctuary.
Two Night Special Stay: Knysna
Day 6: Knysna (B,L)
Enjoy this morning at leisure in Knysna, then board your ferry for a short ride across to Featherbed Nature Reserve for panoramic views of the lagoon. A spectacular buffet lunch awaits under the Milkwood trees of the forest. Tonight there is free time to explore the Waterfront area of Knysna, famous for its oysters.
Day 7: Knysna - Durban (B,D)
Travel along the Garden Route to Storm’s River Mouth in the Tsitsikamma National Park. Continue onto Port Elizabeth to board your flight to Durban and then transfer to your hotel.

Day 8: Durban - Ghost Mountain (B,D)
Travel through the Dolphin Coast region amongst a sea of sugar cane fields to Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park. World renowned for its rhino conservation program, the Hluhluwe and Umfolozi Reserves are the oldest such havens in Africa, being founded in 1895. It was here that the world-acclaimed Operation Rhino was introduced during the 1960s, successfully capturing and relocating white rhino to sanctuaries within South Africa and abroad. Recently, Hluhluwe-Umfolozi has focused its efforts on saving the endangered black rhino. SCENIC ENRICH This evening enjoy a mesmerising display of traditional dancing.

Day 9: Ghost Mountain (B,D)
Take a morning cruise on stunning Lake Jozini, where wildlife often come to the water’s edge. Enter Zululand, known for its sub-tropical climate and sandy beaches. SCENIC ENRICH Visit a traditional Zulu community in the Lebombo Mountains, where you are welcomed by the village chief and taken on a private tour to learn about Zulu life and customs.
Day 10: Ghost Mountain (B,D)
Travel into the tiny kingdom of Swaziland, through the magnificent valleys of Big Bend to your hotel situated in the Ezulwini Valley.

Day 11: Swaziland - Kruger National Park (B,D)
Kruger National Park is South Africa’s largest national park. A real treat awaits as you arrive at Lion Sands Private Game Reserve situated on a private concession within Kruger National Park. The Sabie River flows through it, and it has the highest recorded concentration of leopards in Africa. This afternoon, enjoy a game drive in an open 4x4 safari vehicle. This evening savour the surrounding African bushland whilst dining at the lodge.

Day 12: Kruger National Park (B,L,D)
Today you will explore this famous National Park as you embark on morning and evening game drives. Limitless game viewing is possible as your open Land Rover is able to traverse the entire Kruger National Park without restriction, even off road to track the ‘Big Five’. SCENIC FREE CHOICE (1) a walking safari with a game ranger (moderate fitness required); or (2) wine tasting.
Day 13: Kruger National Park - Johannesburg (B)
Travel along the world renowned ‘Panorama Route’ and view the stunning Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and stop at God’s Window for breathtaking views. Arrive in Johannesburg late afternoon.

Day 14: Johannesburg - Livingstone (B,D)
Transfer to the airport to meet your flight to Livingstone, Zambia. On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel, set on the banks of the magnificent Zambezi River. This afternoon see the powerful and majestic falls at close range during your tour of the Zambian side of Victoria Falls. Tonight climb aboard the historic Livingstone Express steam train for a traverse of the Mosi-oa-Tunya Game Park, accompanied by a five course meal on board.

Day 15: Chobe National Park (B,L)
In nearby Botswana is Chobe National Park, a truly remarkable bio-diversity teeming with wildlife centred around the Chobe River where thousands of elephants, hippos and buffalos roam amongst lush vegetation. Enjoy a cruise along the river, dine at a river lodge and take an afternoon game drive along the shore in open safari vehicles.
Day 16: Livingstone (B)
SCENIC ENRICH Visit a typical Zambian village to gain an appreciation of traditional tribal life. Later explore the quaint town of Livingstone and the museum which showcases the life of David Livingstone, the famous Scottish missionary. SCENIC SUNDOWNERS board your vessel for a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River.
Day 17: Livingstone - Johannesburg (B,D)
Take a magnificent helicopter flight over Victoria Falls (own expense).

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Johannesburg, then transfer to your hotel.

Day 18: Johannesburg (B)

This morning experience a township tour of Soweto before transferring* to the airport for your onward or home bound flight.
